Ahmed Sareer

Ambassador Sareer is the Adviser to the Secretary General of the OIC since 4 November 2018. He is also the Director in charge of Asia Directorate and Peace, Security and Conflict-Resolution Unit of the General Secretariat.

Ambassador Sareer started his career in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Maldives in 1986. During his diplomatic career, he worked in Colombo, New York (UN), Kathmandu, Brussels, London and Dhaka. Between 2012-2017, he served as Ambassador/ Permanent Representative of the Republic of Maldives to the UN; concurrently accredited as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Republic of Maldives to the USA. He was the Foreign Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Maldives between 2017-2018. 

Ambassador Sareer graduated from University of Canberra, Social Sciences in 1992 and he hold Master’s degree in Foreign Affairs and Trade from Monash University, Australia in 1997.
